Yoga in Hawaii at Hale Kai ~ Precision in Movement: Freedom in Stillness
March 26~April 1, 2012 with AMY COOPER

THE PLACE: Located on the Big Island of Hawaii, just South of Kona, HALE KAI (“ocean house”) offers a setting which allows the body and mind to merge with the spirit. The Big Island is a land of incredible diversity. Sea turtles and spinner dolphins frequent the bay where Hale Kai sits. The adventurous may want to surf, or kayak or hike along the coast in search of solitude or a chance encounter with whale or dolphin. Relax and read in a hammock beneath the rustling palms in a tropical paradise. Options to explore the power and intrigue of an active volcano, lush rain forests, warm springs, waterfalls, and abundant flowers evoke the ancient spirit of the islands.
Enjoy expansive living on the ocean; deeply renewing and inspiring. A remote, unique and magical taste of old Hawaii, Polynesian style.
THE RETREAT: Daily yoga is practiced in a round, open-air studio overlooking the vast blue Pacific waters. A morning invigorating, fluid Yoga practice and a late afternoon mellow practice including meditation and pranayama (1 day mid-week only a morning class is held). There will be ample time for rest & relaxation, massage, and excursions such as to remote beaches, waterfalls, and a visit to the City of Refuge, a sanctuary of Hawaii’s past.
COST: $1,600. (double occupancy) includes all meals, accommodations, & yoga. Travel, massage, & excursions not included. $500. Deposit required. Balance due March 15, 2012.

"It was wonderful to do yoga in nature with the river in the background, my practice felt so light and open, so balanced, energized and relaxed at the same time. The corpse pose and meditation went deep. It has been an inspiration for me ever since to try to find this balance and lightness in my yoga practice at home and in my life in general. This trip has also shown me that it is empowering to stretch my limits and try seemingly impossible things such as a handstand in the sand, and going through rapids in a kayak although I had never kayaked before in my life." -Annie Reinhardt
